Whether an everyday athlete or a weekend warrior, incorporating Pilates into your workout will free you from injury and enhance your ability to compete. For most athletes, muscles do not work in isolation when engaging in functional movements such as running, hill walking, swimming, cycling, or rock climbing. Instead, these movements involve a group of muscles working in a coordinated way to create the desired activity. During Pilates, an athlete learn to engage or release muscles and move joints in an isolated form to allow their body better, safer, and more controlled full-body movements.
